Job description:
Book-keepers, payroll managers and wages clerks maintain and balance records of financial transactions, oversee the operation of payroll functions and calculate hours worked, wages due and other relevant contributions and deductions.
Tasks required by this job include: (Job Responsibilities)
- Oversee the payroll process for clients, ensuring accuracy and compliance with relevant regulations.
- Manage a team of payroll administrators, providing guidance and support as needed.
- Coordinate with clients to gather payroll-related information, including employee hours, salaries, and deductions.
- Calculate employee wages, taxes, and deductions accurately, taking into account any special circumstances or requirements.
- Process payroll on a timely basis, including issuing paychecks, direct deposits, and other forms of payment.
- Ensure compliance with tax laws, labor regulations, and industry standards in all payroll activities.
- Stay updated on changes in payroll regulations and implement necessary adjustments to ensure compliance.
- Prepare and file payroll tax returns, including quarterly and annual filings, in a timely manner.
- Address payroll-related inquiries and resolve any issues or discrepancies promptly.
- Collaborate with other departments within the firm, such as accounting and HR, to ensure seamless payroll operations.
- Maintain payroll records and documentation in accordance with recordkeeping requirements.
- Implement and maintain payroll systems and software, ensuring efficiency and accuracy in payroll processing.
- Provide training and development opportunities for payroll staff to enhance their skills and knowledge.
- Participate in audits and reviews of payroll processes and procedures as needed.
Entry requirements of this job:
- There are no minimum academic requirements, although entrants typically possess GCSEs/S grades or equivalent qualifications, and maths may be required.
- Training is typically provided on-the-job. NVQs/SVQs in relevant areas are available, and apprenticeships may be available in some areas.
Salary: £32,000.00 to £39,000.00
